This is the first post of our newest series, Drinking with Pandora. A combination of 2 of our favorite things, beer and music. We posted a pic on our Instagram last week prior to the Season 7 premier of The Walking Dead. The pic featured Rogue’s Dead Guy next to a tomb-stoned cupcake with Abraham Ford’s name on it, so in honor of that episode, we dedicate this post to that foul-mouthed, loyal, and most certainly lovable, army sergeant.

“The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” was one of the most intense and devastating episodes of the series, so to pay homage to one of our most beloved characters through beer and rockabilly music seems fitting.
Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale is a Maibock-inspired, malty ale that paired well with the Pandora radio station I played to mourn Abe’s death:
S.O.B Radio on Pandora

A heavy, full-bodied stout or porter wouldn’t have been the best choice to send Abe off to the great beyond. A lighter, kick ass ale was the best way to say farewell and S.O.B by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats was the soundtrack playing in my head as Abraham lost his…too soon?
As I sipped, Pandora played and play with my emotions she did. Next up was:

Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. This may not seem like much to many, but to me, this was the soundtrack that played in Abraham’s head as he invisioned his future with Sasha Williams. She “brought him back from being too far gone”…Yes I think she was his Tennessee Whiskey. His subtle peace out was as sentimental as he’d get in his final moments before meeting Lucille. Enter the next track on my Dead Guy inspired playlist:

Look, this station just gets me. It knew what I needed to hear with each delectable sip and that I needed a break from the sobfest. Taylor Momsen’s rough and sultry vocals in Heaven Knows was the perfect transition from sentimentality.
This reprieve from devastation was only slight because Pandora then decided to sucker punch me right in the gut with the next track:

Low blow, Pandora, low blow. 2 Heads….need I say more? Come on Coleman, I’m already in Hell! RIP Abraham AND Glenn…
As I took the final sips of my Dead Guy Ale, Hugo drove it home with 99 Problems

I’m not going to lie, I cracked up hearing the rockabilly, banjo-heavy version of this song only because this was the perfect send off. If only it were true! Abraham had 99 problems and a Bitch was the only one that could take him out…damn you Lucille!
Let’s all raise our glasses before episode 2 and…wait, I’m all out…
Son of a Bitch! Give me a Drink!
